This organization is comprised solely of warrior women who are utilized as shock troopers in times of magical crises. Truth also houses a secondary organization, The Valkyries. Very few famous mages ever join Truth because of Truth's limitations on the use of magic, however these men and women know a great deal about magic. They are responsible for the study and control of Magic in the world, a daunting task considering how powerful Arum's magic is when compared to a world like Earth or Vox. Truth is the smallest District and for good reason. Some of the worlds finest scholars are members of Order. The Temple of Order trains their disciples in the ways of quill, tongue, and mind and is the second largest District. Order is responsible for the study and control of knowledge. These warriors are among the finest in the world, with Grand Duelist Valian Price stating "Any one of them could best me in a fight on fair footing." The Temple of Justice trains their disciples in the ways of sword, spear, and hand and forms the bulk of The Vigil. Justice is responsible for the study and control of martial combat. If they pass they will be inducted into The Vigil as a Vigilant and become a member of the District they have chosen. Once chosen they will undergo The Three Tests: Courage, Strength, and Compassion, as well as The Districts own test.

Applicants to The Vigil will be trained in all three Districts before choosing a District to represent. They are powerful and influential to a degree we don't see in our own world.Įach District specializes in a specific field.

It should be said The Vigil is a very strict organization with little tolerance for incompetence. On seeing how powerful magic was Cassius took it upon himself to ensure it could never be used in such a way to cause world-ending disasters, though it eventually evolved to ensure that no one organization would gain too much power. The Vigil was founded nearly four hundred years prior to the first book by Cassius Anders, an ex-officer of The Company of Heroes. Each District is held responsible for overseeing the other in a checks and balances system that ensures The Vigil remains on its true path. The Vigil is separated into three "Districts": Truth, Order, and Justice. Lyani, the fourth race in Arum, do not participate as they are a very small race with no will to influence the world. The Vigil is not racially exclusive but due to the animosity between the Inari and the rest of the world is largely comprised of Humans and Elves. The Vigil is a non-governmental organization that represents order, balance, and peace within the world of Arum.

The story revolves around Children of Light, which are more or less direct creations of a god. Humans are present in every world throughout the series. Yggdrasil consists of nine separate "worlds", each a branch of the overall worldtree. Yggdrasil is within our universe and is the result of flow of divine energy. My world Yggdrasil has gotten a bit convoluted over the years so I feel the need to put this in front of any lore post. We also encourage users to register an account.
